1993
Futayyeh, M.S. (Aleppo univ., Faculty of Agr. (Syria). Dept. of Agr.Economics)
Syria is an agricultural country. Government programs are aimed at building a solid economy and increasing production and productivity of the Syrian farmers. This productivity was lower in some crops than in others in selected countries, whereas the productivity of the Syrian farmers was higher in some crops during the 1970-1987 period. Two of the major policy tools used by the Syrian government are subsidies and government purchase of all output. The analysis showed that the relation between acreage and prices of cotton was statistically insignificant. The relation between acreage and prices of wheat and maize was significant whereas the relation between acreage and price of sugar beets was slight.
