[Study on the influence of hormone-carriers on the rooting of stem cuttings of Euonymus japonica and Nerium oleander]

Experiments were carried out to study the effectiveness and harmfulness of different hormone-carriers on rooting of stem cuttings of Euonymus japonica L. and Nerium oleander L. These cuttings at different stages of development were bisected and treated with five different hormone-carriers by using (5000 ppm) of Indole Butyric acid (IBA) then cultured in turf and sand (1:1). Positive correlations were found between the dates of collecting cuttings and type of hormone-carrier. Cuttings cultured in (17.9) gave a higher percentage of rooting by all carriers but a greater number of roots was obtained from the cuttings cultured in (10.5). Talk-treatments gave less percentage of harmfulness, but the less rooting percentage was obtained, among different carriers with aceton(50) having the most significant effects on all parameters studied. A high percentage of harmfullness was obtained from the cuttings treated with Glycerin and Isopropanel
