1988
Paw-Ngam Dejcomrone (Lampang Agricultural Research and Training Center (Thailand))
Spears of asparagus var. California No 309 were extracted apex(ap) shoot tip of first lateral branches (1st ap), shoot tip of second lateral branches (2ng ap) and three lateral buds from 1-3, 3-5 and 5-15 cm distant from apex. The six meristematic tissues were cultured in modified MS medium (1972) (As) and MS medium (1962) (MS) with and without malt extract (m). Within 10 weeks all meristematic tissues developed shoots and roots on As and MS and both with and without malt extract. Apex developed maximum in both number of shoots and shoot height, 5.62 shoots and 3.04 cm respectively and lateral bud 5-15 cm distant from apex had maximum number of root. Meristematic tissues on Asm had maximum in both number of shoots and shoot height and tissue developed maximum average number of roots on MSm.
