Nutrient composition of fish meal produced from fish waste product

Nutrient composition of fish meal produced from fish-waste products were studied. The fish-waste products obtained from caning and fish frozen industries. A total 44 samples of the fish meal were subjected for proximate analysis. Mean +- S.D., modes and range (in parenthesis) of each nutrient content is as following, moisture 6.16 +- 1.12 %, 6.04 % and 3.62-8.32 % protein 54.78 +- 1.55 %, 54.80 % and 51.01-58.39 %, ether extract 12.79 +- 1.38 %. 12.90 % and 10.15-15.86 % ash 26.63 +- 0.96 %, 26.35 % and 24.22-28.07 %, calcium 8.96 +- 0.55 %, 9.16 % and 7.38-10.14 % and phosphorus 4.50 +- 0.33 %, 4.64 % and 3.27-4.92 %, respectively.
