Kanchanaree Pongchawee (Freshwater Fisheries Station, Nakhon Sawan (Thailand)) | Nongnuch Raksakulthai
Proximate composition of farmed hybrid catfish (Clarius macrocephalus x C. gariepinus) was analyzed using sampled of size 3-5 fish/Kg from 3 farms in Meenburi, Bangkok. Fish were sampled every 15 days for 3 times. Water in raising ponds was also analyzed for temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen, ammoniacal and nitrite nitrogen contents, alkalinity and hardness. Statistical analysis of the results showed the moisture and protein contents of muscle of fish fed with different levels of protein in feed were significantly different (P0.05) but fat, ash and carbohydrate contents were not significantly different. Quality of water from the 3 farms was not significantly different (P0.05) and it was of low quality due to low dissolved oxygen and high ammonia content.
