[Evaluation of efficiency of sorbents as agents of binding the radionuclides in soils]

Theoretical investigations of quantitative characteristics and regularities of change of radionuclide distribution coefficient (Kd) between solid (S) and liquid (L) phases depending on binding capacity of sorbent (B) and on the ratio S:L. It was shown that distribution coefficient without the regard of ratio S:L does not characterize binding capacity of sorbent. Change of Kd value depending on binding capacity of sorbent has a character of a curve and sharply increases with radionuclide sorbtion from solution. The comparison of two Kd values obtained in the same conditions does not give a notion the variations of sorbent binding capacity if regularities of Kd change depending on S were not taken into account. Low efficacy of sorbents as a means radionuclide fixation was shown theoretically
