General aspects of exploration process and selection criteria for bottling table water

The need for explorations for high quality spring water has long been felt, particularly at the present high demand on the Yugoslav market. The demand is understandable also in view of the increasing environmental pollution, and of the use in inefficient water supply installations, including those for river water treatment. To meet the demand, at least of a number of consumers, by supplying bottled ground water of the standard applied in some countries, was proposed much earlier by national hydrogeologist. First explorations for a data base compilation for the first table water bottling plant in Serbia, and Yugoslavia, were carried out in 1990. The explorations helped the selection of the best resource for pure spring water use and distribution on the market. The satisfactory results led to the Buk project, a source spring intake at Lozica Monastery, on the northern Rtan Mt. slope, Boljevac area in eastern Serbia (Yugoslavia).
