The soil as the ecological factor in vineyard production in Metohija [Serbia, Yugoslavia]

The results of the investigation show that in area of Metohija (Serbia, Yugoslavia) for the reaching of the high and stable yield of grape it is necessary to provide the optimal nutrition of vineyard. Taking into account the data about the fertility of soil of Metohija vineyards it is clear that couple of soil types do not provide suitable conditions for the nutrition of vineyard because of the following reasons: Lots of types of soil planted with vineyards in Metohija have relatively bad physical, water-physical, chemical and biological characteristics which indicates the low production properties. In order to reach the high and stable production of grape it is necessary to apply the modern technology of the soil treatment, fertilizing, nursing as well as meliorative procedures of soil improvement.
