The present review deals with obesity in the dogs. Definition, incidence, assessment, etiology and detrimental effects of obesity are firstly presented. In a second part, the treatment is discussed, with particular emphasis on the incorporation of large quantities of dietary fibres in low energy specific purpose food. At present time, no conclusions can be drawn from published studies
