Stomach content analysis, an extensive inquiry and observations made in Lwiro and Irangi, South-Kivu, Democratic Republic of Congo during 3 years reveal that 52 species of birds can be harmful in agriculture. These species are spread in 23 families, mainly Estrildidae (21.53 per cent). The attacked crops are especially maize, sorghum, rice and fish. The damages were recorded at different stages. The similarity index of Sorensen between forest birds and clearing birds is 37.5 per cent
