DECIS MICRO as water emulsifiable granules: an innovative formulation technology for Deltamethrin

DECIS MICRO is a newly developed product based on a "dry" concentrated aqueous emulsion concept. The formulation technology consists in preparing water emulsifiable granules of Deltamethrin in a three-step process. Deltamethrin technical is firstly dissolved in an organic solvent. The organic solution is further dispersed in an aqueous phase containing a water soluble polymeric shell (adsorption step). The resulting emulsion is then granulated in a fluidized bed to produce granules which look dry and are similar to conventional water dispersible granules (WG) products. Upon preparation of the spray solution the granules disintegrate and release the Deltamethrin organic solution which is emulsified in water thanks to the emulsifier characteristics of the polymer. The biological efficacy of the water emulsifiable granules formulation is equivalent to the corresponding Deltamethrin emulsifiable concentrates (EC) product profile based on field trials performed throughout Europe.
