The ensiling potential of fodder galega herbage harvested at the budding stage was compared with red clover of the same stage. The additive Superben was used in the treatment of herbages at ensiling. The silage quality of an early harvest was high for both species: silage did not contain butyric acid. The silages showed a good lactic acid fermentation as well. The present results showed that a similar milk production was achieved by using fodder galega silage compared to that of red clover. The high voluntary intake of fodder galega silage by dairy cows was observed during the experimental period. The results also showed that fodder galega silage enabled to produce milk of a good quality. In spite of a low dry matter content of fodder galega herbage there were no abundant liquid losses during ensiling, which reduce the risk of environmental damage. We can conclude that fodder galega herbage cut at the budding stage is a good material for making a high-quality silage
