We did experiments on the searching capacity of Diglyphus isaea Walker (Hymenoptera: Eulophidae) on Liriomyza trifolii Burgess (Diptera: Argomyzidae) host at the University of Bologna in the Department of Entomology. We measured the time the female wasp needed to find the L. trifolii larva in minutes. The results indicated that in case of higher density females of D. isaes needed significantly less time to detect the larvae of L. trifolii. In the mean time we examined the paralysation of the larvae, the number of eggs laid by the female wasp and host-feeding. Paralysation of the fly larvae was 100 percent. In case of higher density host-feeding occurred less frequently. Host feeding activity could be observed 18 times examining lonely females and only 6 times in groups of females. The number of eggs did not differ significantly in case of higher and lower densities. The highest number of eggs we observed was 3 eggs on one larva
