Interactive effect of sulphur and nitrogen fertilizers on yield of tomato grown on sand soil under plastic tunnel
1996
Ragab, B. (Univ. of Hort. and Food Ind., Budapest (Hungary))
In a pot trial of 1991-92, the effects of 0, 48, 80 and 112 mg S/kg in combination with 0, 80 and 200 mg N/kg on the yield of tomato (cv. Balca-F1 hybrid) were tested to determine their influence on the characters of yield in tomato grown on sandy soil (pH 7.85) under plastic tunnel. Sulphur had a positive effect, concentrating the ripening period and significantly reducing the unripe fraction at harvest. It also interacted positively with N, increasing yield. Nitrogen had a linear, significant influence on yield. The most appropriate rates under these conditions were 80 mg/kg (24 kg/ha) and 200 mg/kg (600 kg/ha) for sulphur and nitrogen, respectively
