The royal stud-estate that had existed since 1789, the era of King Joseph II, became internationally reputed due to its horse-breeding and the progenies of the famous stallion Shagya purchased from Syrian Bedouins. Since the sixties of the present century, under the leadership of Robert Burgert's, along with keeping its traditions Babolna has got a new image of which firstly the practical implementation of production systems, the introduction of the closed system of poultry breeding and production in Hungary, and hybrid maize production were characteristic. At the time of the change in the country's political system and after it, Babolna drew attention to itself by continuing its experimenting activities even under the changed international and domestic conditions. Being a share company with permanently dominant state proprietorship, it still deserves the interest of specialists due to its costsensitive, competitive and market-oriented system, the establishment of integrations among the conditions of market economy
