Establishment of an environment-friendly farming and of the structural shange that is linked with it can be supported by an outline and critical evaluation of dvelopment trends in past decades. "Industry-like" farming, with strong chemization and high energy demand cannot be continued in the future. The author outlines the arable farming system that is recommended, including a detailed exposition of the characteristics, requirements, basic elements, main technologic components and even the research tasks. A survey of sustainable environment - and landscape management definitions, of land - and regional utilization questions, of agro-oecosystems based on circulatory processes, of regional and local production adaptation problems and finally of research tasks that will help further development, support the exposition
