Wheat Mv 24 was substituted with triticale 'Tewo' in 25 percent, 50 percent, 75 percent and 100 percent in diets for fattening pigs. Diets contained 14 percent extracted soy-bean meal as a protein source and mineral-vitamin premix according to the requirements of the animals. The 84 day experiment was carried out with pigs (32-102 kg) kept individually. The daily weight gain of pigs were 809-813-817 g in groups where 25 percent, 75 percent and 100 percent of the wheat was replaced by triticale respectively, and 754 g when diets contained 50 percent and 100 percent wheat. Feed efficiency was the highest (3,69 kg) in the diet with 100 percent triticale, while in the other groups (3,33-3,39 kg) smaller values were established. The carcass quality (on the basis of back fat thickness and boneless meat ration) was the best in diets containing 100 percent wheat. The meat quality was checked by examination of the longissimus muscle:the least crude fat contentin was found in cases where the diet contained 50-50 percent triticale and wheat. There were not significant differences between water content and crude protein values. According to the results it can be established that triticale 'Tewo' is utilizable for substitution of wheat in 50 percent of diets containing the required amounts of vitamins, mineral supplements and protein
