Experimental results on crossing local awassi with Assaf and Turkish Awassi

Local Awassi sheep are characterized by low productivity of milk and meat. One of the main reason for this is the genetic make up of the breed. Breeding program at Al-Radwaniea Sheep Breeding Center IPA started in 1990 after the importation of 170 heads of Turkish Awassi and 105 heads of Assaf. A total of 4781 records were collected and analyzed using SAS program. The results indicated that there is a significant difference between breeding groups for both milk yield and live body weights
