Production and economy of farm-households in northeastern China: Analysis of farm-households bookkeeping record

This study is the third report in a monograph conducted to clarify the system of the agriculture business of farm-households in the villages of Northeastern China. It utilizes the bookkeeping records of mine farm-households in three villages, which stated from April 1995 for whole year, and we also have made an investigation in summer 1996. The Labor-input record is used to characterize the labor-input process for crop and Livestock productions. Particular attention is paid to the transformation of Labor input from a Ban Gong relationship (labor-interchange between neighboring farm-households) to that of non-gratuitous entrust and entrusted operation during the commoditization and mechanization processes of the agricultural sector. Next, the revenue-cost accounts of farm-households are used to examine farm-households social relationships in acquiring production inputs, the marketing situations of crop and livestock productions, and farm finance, in the meanwhile, showing the status of the part-time. Based on the analysis above, it is revealed that there has been great changes in the production and economy of farm-households
