The ointment Vortine consists of crystalline iodine, potassium iodine, salicylic and lactic acids, anesthesin, lanoline and vaseline. This ointment is used for treatment of suppurative skin diseases of cow udder (dermatites, small infected wounds and ulcers, chicken-pox) and elimination of warts from teats. Investigations revealed that after treating teat warts with Vortine they disappear within 6-10 days, whereas, suppurative wounds and ulcers of the udder and teat skin heal in 4-10 days. While treating with Vortine the content of iodine in milk somewhat increases but never exceeds the limits of physiological maximum concentration.
