The given research was carried out by the scientists of the LUA Veterinary Medicine Faculty with the aim to analyse pig trichinellosis cases in Latvia and to evaluate the efficiency of the diagnostics. Samples of various muscle groups (taken in 35 places) of domestic pigs were analysed for trichinellosis by compressing and digestion methods. The digestion method was found to be more effective. The largest amount of larvae was found by digestion method in diaphragma crus sinistrum (10 g/143 larvae) and m. extensor carpi ulnaris (left - 125 larvae, right - 91 larvae). The largest amount of larvae was in the compressed samples of diaphragma crus (left - 24, right - 14 larvae) and of radix linguae (17).
