Sorption properties of Latvian clays

The first investigations of the sorption properties of Latvia's clays in the works of J.Eiduks have been studied and are discussed. The data concerning the determination of specific area, pore structure and ion exchange parameters in Latvia's clays are analysed and generalized. The influence of thermal and acidic treatment on the changes in clay specific surface area and pore structure is explained. The possibilities to use Latvia's clays in bleaching rapeseed oil as well as in industrial water treatment are suggested.
