[Influence of herbicides on the weediness of spring barley]

The efficiency of the new herbicides for weed control in spring barley fields as well as the sensitivity of the crop to herbicide application were studied at the State Stende Selection Station in the period of 1995-1997. The studies show that the herbicide MCPA 750 (2 l/ha) reduced the number of short life dicotyledonous weeds; however the barley grain yield was not increased. The application of Bazagran M (4 l/ha) gave a higher grain yield as compared to other tested herbicides. The highest grain yield was obtained from the barley varieties "Rasa" (4.39 t/ha) and "Sencis" (4.47 t/ha)
