At the All-Russia Research Institute of PLant Protection 3-year trials were carried out on the development of new herbicides for application in cereals under the conditions of Russia. In the period of 1992-1997 the number of herbicides permitted for application in cereals has decreased from 64 (including 17 combined) to 39 (including 15 combined). Thus the development of new herbicides is an important problem. The tests of new combined herbicides for weed control in winter and spring wheat as well as in spring barley made it possible to determine the time and rates of application and to evaluate their effect
