English. Under the Free Trade Agreement among Mexico, Canada and USA, a common market zone is planned; this implies a possible price alignment. Employing the notion of Granger causality the aim was to assess whether there is integration in the market for meat of beef, pork and chicken between Mexico and the USA. Monthly price data were used for the period January 1990 to December 1994. The results showed that there is evidence of market integration for meat of pork, but not for beef and chicken.

Con base en la nocion de causalidad de Granger se evaluo las evidencias de integracion en el mercado de carne de res, cerdo y pollo entre Mexico y EE.UU. Se utilizaron datos mensuales de precios para el periodo de enero de 1990 a diciembre de 1994. Los resultados indicaron que hay evidencias de integracion en el mercado de la carne de cerdo, pero no para la de res y ni la de pollo.
