The present study, carried out in five ranches in the state Yucatan, Mexico, was performed to compare superovulatory response of cows and heifers treated with PMSG+NEUTRA-PMSG (Treatment 1; n=19) and two types of FSH-P (Treatment 2; n=19). Superovulation started on day 11 of the cycle (estrus = day 0), and the embryos were recovered nonsurgically on day 7 after insemination. The results showed a stronger response with FSH-P and that the cows responded better than heifers to the superovulatory treatment.

El presente trabajo se efectuo en cuatro ranchos ubicados en la zona centro, y uno en la zona sur del Edo. de Yucatan, Mexico, para comparar la respuesta superovulatoria en vacas y novillas tratadas con PMSG+NEUTA-PMSG (Tratamiento 1; n=19), y dos tipos de FSH-P (Tratamiento 2; n=19). La superovulacion se inicio el dia 11 del ciclo estral de las donadoras (estro = dia 0), la recoleccion embrionaria se llevo a cabo por el metodo no quirurgico, siete dias despues de la primera inseminacion. Los resultados indican que se obtiene mayor respuesta al utilizar FSH-P y que las vacas responden mejor que las novillas al estimulo superovulatorio.
