The primary concern of the BNRCC [Ban Lang Natural Resources Conservation Club] is to protect the forest from exploitation. They aim to keep Tha Chut mountain in good condition to provide a sustainable water resource for the villages both for household and farming needs. To achieve this, the BNRCC tries to ensure proper forest use. It also undertakes land encroachment monitoring as well as forest rehabilitation. However, they lack the knowledge and skill to manage the forest in a scientific manner. Thus, they require technological and managerial support from government agencies. The district forest officer is in the best position to encourage the people to work effectively to achieve their goal. Since the Community Forest Act has not been issued yet and the local people cannot afford to wait, the development of local organization is very useful. It is a kind of social control in natural resource management
