Response of maize (Zea mays L.) cv. "Golden" to different doses of some pre-emergence herbicides

The present study was conducted to determine the effect of different doses of some pre-emergence herbicides on the morphology and grain yield of maize (Zea mays L.) cv. "Golden". Two herbicides viz. Primextra @ 3.75 2.5, 1.25, 0.625,/ha and stomp @ 0.625, 5.00 lit/ha, along with an hand weeding and a weedy check treatment were applied 0 days after sowing the maize crop. Grain yield was significantly increased by all herbicidal treatments. The maximum grain yield was recorded for Primextra @ 3.75 followed by stomp @ 5.00/ha. Plant height leaf area, and 1000 grain weight were also significantly increased by different herbicidal treatments as compared with control.
