Sero-prevalence of Brucella abortus and Brucella melitensis in camels

Camel sera were examined for the presence of antibodies against Brucella abortus and Brucella melitensis by Slide Agglutination Test (SAT). Sera found positive against any or both the antigens with SAT were further confirmed through Standard Tube Agglutination Test (STAT). The animals showing positive results with any antigen through both the tests were taken as seropositive. When SAT was applied, 32 sera yielded positive results; 12 with Br. Abortus, 14 with Br. melitensis and 6 with both the antigens. On examining these 32 sera by STAT, 7 were identified as positive; 4 for Br. abortus and 3 for Br. melitensis.
