The survey conducted in the highlands cultivating selected major cutflower crops such as roses, chrysanthemum, anthuriums, gladiolus, statice and Shasta daisy resulted in the identification of major insect pests and diseases. The major insect pests identified were scale insects, aphids, spider mites and white flies found to be abundant during the dry season (November to April); and leaf miner, snout beetle and budworms during the rainy season (May to October). On the other hand, disease such as blackspot, corn rot and rust were observed during rainy days, while leafspot, anthracnose and powdery mildew in summer. Diseases on roses caused by virus were noted to be visible all-year round especially in the station (BNCRDC). During severe attack, all leaves become yellowish leaving only the veins green resulting to very low quality flowers for commercial purposes. These identified insect pests and diseases cause from 10 to 70 percent damage on the crop
