Comparative effect of different acaricide against mites on apple in Swat [Pakistan]

The experiment was conducted at Tita Butt, Swat on a private apple orchard to test Ethion 46.5% EC, Sulphur 80% SP, Dicofol 75% EC, Bromopropylate 50% EC, Propargite 57% EC and Tetradifon 7.52% EC against European red mite, Panonychus ulmi Koch. The trees were sprayed four times with an interval of 8 days. All the products reduced the population of the mite to a great extent. However, Bromopropylate, propargite and Ethion were found relatively better than the remaining products. The efficacy of the tested products was noted to remain for a short period as the spray deposits did not remain effective for longer in suppressing the subsequent increase of the mite population.
