Magbanua, M.G.M. | Mew, T.W. (International Rice Research Inst., Los Banos, Laguna (Philippines))
There is a total of 21,866 accessions which have date on sheath blight reactions and information on various agronomic traits. An analysis of this dataset was made to establish the relationship between sheath blight resistance of these accessions and the traits of rice plants particularly culm (diameter, length, number), leaf length, maturity and plant height (derived from culm length plus panicle length). About 88 percent are rated to be moderately susceptible (SES=5) and more than 85 percent of which have culm diameter greater than 4 mm, over 45 percent have culm length higher than 120 cm, 72 percent with culm number ranging from 10 to 20 tillers, 80 percent with leaf length ranging from 40 to 80 cm, more than 30 percent have a maturity period ranging from 135 to 170 days and 40 percent have plant height more than 140 cm
