The determination of basic biochemical indices in blood such as level of glucose, ketone bodies, total protein and inorganic phosphorus, and calcium and magnesium, with the simultaneous control of feeding of the studied cows allowed to state the regularities or disturbances in protein, energy and mineral metabolism in animals, resulting from the environmental factors, mainly from feeding. The level of biochemical indices in cow blood was affected, to various degree (depending on correct or incorrect feeding) by the individual factors such as level of milk production, lactation stage and also the successive lactation
