This research report entitled "Analysis of the Role of Policies on Biosafety" provides a perspective of biosafety in the Philippines from conceptualization to actual implementation as well as future concerns. International efforts are likewise presented through a chronological discussion of key events that shaped biosafety protocol. A comparative analysis highlights recent changes in making the 1990 national guidelines more responsive, less stringent and easier to operationalize. Recommendations are forwarded to further strengthen institutional mechanisms on biosafety
