Methods of investigating seed vigour of selected ornamental plant species

In the years 1994-95 the investigations were carried out on the seed vigour of gold poppy (Eschscholtzia californica Cham.), China aster (Callistephus chinensis (L.) ness.), garden balsam (Impatiens balsamina L.) and stock gillyflower (Matthilola bicornis DC). The main aim of the study was to select the best method of seed vigour estimation, in of all investigated plant species can be based on their viability level measured by the TTC method. Germ's method can be used to estimate gold poppy seed vigour. Couting plant emergences in the greenhouse was found to be a good method of measuring seed vigour of all investigated plant species
