Present state and perspectives of Braunvieh cattle breeding in Slovakia are analysed and the milk and fertility traits of imported generation are published. Braunvieh dairy cows achieved higher fat, protein and lactose percentage in milk in comparison with domestic Slovak breeds. Milk production (303 lactations, finished in 1996) is higher than in our dual purpose breeds and smaller than in the Holstein breed.
