The evaluation of red and white currants genepool

Currants have been bred at the Research Institute of Fruit and Decorative Woods in Bojnice (Slovakia) from 1962. 35 genotypes of red currant of domestic and foreign origin and9 genotypes of white currant were evaluated within the experiment reported. Observed and tabulated were mean length of cluster, mean number of berries per cluster, maximum number of berries in cluster, mean weight of berry, mean size of berry, refraction (%), mean vitamin C content, mean yield per plant, and yield per ha.
