Resistance of selected alfalfa [Medicago sativa] cultivars to stem nematode and bacterial wilt
1996
Gubis, V. (Vyskumny Ustav Rastlinnej Vyroby, Piestany (Slovakia))
Under greenhouse conditions after artificial infection 14 cultivars and 2 advanced lines of alfalfa were tested for resistance to stem nematode and bacterial wilt. The cultivars Palava (control), Gladiator, Verko, Alfa II, Gloria, Apollo II, Sverre, Euver, Vrtus, Magda, Sitel, Paula, Europe, Furez, and domestic advanced lines LVCR-17 and VGZ 29/31 (later released as Lucia) were used. Vertus (92.55 percent of resistant plants), Sverre (73.85 percent), Alfa II (65.38 percent), Europe (47.62 percent) Paula (47.00 percent) and Verko (42.31 percent) were highly significantly more resistant to stem nematode than the control Palava. Apollo II (1.03 points on the scale 0-7: 0=healthy, 7=dead), Gladiator (1.26), Verko (1.88), Furez (2.60) and Sverre (3.14) were highly signifiantly more resistant to bacterial wilt (on root cross section) than the control Palava
