The influence of changed conditions of the urbanised environment of the town of Nitra (Slovakia) on quantitative accumulation and composition of terpenoid substances from Pinus sylvestris L. needles was studied in comparison with a relatively clean environment on the site of the Arboretum Mlynany. From needles from the city environment there were analyzed 10 terpenoid substances, whose total content in needles was more than 1 percent; in the Arboretum Mlynany only 8 kinds of terpenes were analyzed. In Nitra, accumulation of alpha-Pinene was markedly lower, as was production of Citral, Myrcene, and Camphene. On the other hand, in comparison with Mlynany, accumulation of other terpenes was increased, namely: beta-Pinene p-Cymene, alpha-Bisabolol, Eugenol, Carvone, Terpineol. Proportions of alpha-Pinene to beta-Pinene, Citral, Bornyl acetate, Terpineol and Camphere also changed
