Phenotype variability in traits of egg quality of gene reserve in japanese quail

Phenotype variability of various traits of egg quality was evaluated in 9 basic lines of genotype reserve of japanese quail (GRJQ) in our experimental flock. The quails were fed the feed mixture 0/16/0 with declared content of crude protein 243.2 g/kg mixture with 12.5 MJ/kg at the age 0-21, the feed mixture 0/16/0 mixed to one-half with Hyd 0/16/2 from 22 to 28 days, and from 28 days to the end of the studied period the feed mixture Hyd 0/16/2 with a declared content of crude protein 202 g/kg and 11.8 MJ/kg mixture. The differences between lines were statistically significant in all studied traits; the proportion of yolk was on the level of statistical significance. Comprehensive analysis through all lines of GRJQ yielded good information on average values as well as variability of the studied traits in Japanese quail as a zoological species. This analysis shows that the average weight of japanes quail eggs varied from 8.5 to 14.8 g, yolk weight from 2.48 to 4.48 g, egg-white from 4.71 to 9.23 g, shell from 0.71 to 1.35 g, edible part from 7.54 to 13.61 g, index of egg shape from 71.22% to 87.92%, yolk proportion from 25.18% to 37.27%, concentration of yolk cholesterol from 1365 to 2386 mg/100 g yolk proportion from 25.18% to 37.27%, concentration of yolk cholesterol from 1365 to 2386 mg/100g yolk, edible part from 494 to 985 mg/100 g EP, index of yolk refaction from 1.4125 to 1.4195, and egg-white from 1.3530 to 1.3573
