The effect of a feed additive intended for red deer on the intake of feed, water, pH dynamics and total number of rumen protozoa in stags with rumen canulas was studied. The feed additive was fed in pellets, in the proportions 3:1 and 2:1 with meadow hay. Increasing amounts of the feed mixture influenced positively the feed intake and total amount of protozoa in rumen of stags. A gradual slight decrease of pH values compared with pure hay and slight differences in pH resulted
