Studies on rates of sulfur and phosphorus fertilizers for production of peanut promissing line KUP 24D-421 in Lampang soil series

Field experiment was conducted on the farmer's field at Tambon Chomphu, Amphoe Muang, Lampang Province to study the response of peanut Promissing Line KUP 24D-421 to to sulfur (S) and phosphorus (P) fertilizers in Lampang Soil Series. A Split Plot in Randomized Complete Block Design with 4 replications was employed. The rates of sulfur fertilizer were main plots and the rates of phosphorus were subplots. The rates of sulfur fertilizer applied as gypsum were 0, 4 and 8 kg S per rai whereas those for P applied as triple superphosphate were 0, 9 and 18 kg P2O5 per rai, respectively. The results showed that seed yield, sulfur uptake, and protein and oil concentration in the seed were not affected by sulfur application. Seed yield, phosphorus uptake and protien content in seed were significantly increased by the phosphorus fertilizer. Phosphorus application at the rates of 9 and 18 kg P2O5 per rai gave no difference in peanut seed yield whereas these two rates of phosphorus fertilizer gave 21 percent increase in seed yield over the no - P fertilization treatment. There was no effect of interaction between sulfur and phosphorus fertilizer on seed yield, S - and P - yields in seed.
