Response on nitrogen phosphorus and potassium of baby corn (CMB 8704)

Results of surveying the farmers traditional plantation and cultural practices of corn grown in Chiangrai province indicate that the two corn varieties improved by Department of Agriculture SW.1 and SW.2 are planted widely, SW.3 planted little and most farmers do not know NW.1. The important limiting factors for the corn yield are soil fertility, fertilizer application, weeds, and rain distribution. Another is the production system is not suitable. It is necessary to develop and improve the production system and corn yield without increasing cost of production. The aspect of improving all problems should be studied and researched on field corn field test, study on early maturity corn varieties and drought resistane corn varieties in order to avoid drought period and rain during harvest. Study on fertilizer application rates and herbicides applications should be studied also.
