Integrated farm planning under risk for farmers in Amphoe Kamphaeng Saen Changwat Nakhon Pathom

Linear programming model suggested that the optimum farm plan for the small size farm should include both wet-rainy season and dry season rice in the low land, vegetable, and baby corn in the up land. This optimum plan could generate 190,071.5 baht of a maximum net income for small size farm for the next 3 crop years. For a large size farm, The programming results suggested that wet-rainy season and dry season rice should be cultivated in the lowland while sugacane, baby corn and vegetable should be planted in the upland. This optimal plan would be able to generate 273,606.35 baht of a maximum net income for the large-size farm for the next 3 crop year. A risk programming model showed a set of optimal plans for the small and large size farm depending on a given level of household income. However every optimal plan for the small and large size farm suggested to include more cultivated area for sugarcane than baby-corn as sugarcane generated a less income risk than baby corn. the existing crop production of farmers should be adjusted and followed the optimal plan obtained from either linear programming model or risk programming model depending on their objective of profit maximization or minimum income risk. The outcomes of the programming analysis could be used as a guide line for the small and large farmers to make a decision on their crop production for the next 3-year.
