Effect of planting date and harvesting time on yield and quality of vegetable soybean (Glycine max (L.) Merr.)

Six cultivars of vegetable soybean were grown at (1) experimental field no. 2, Department of Horticulture, Faculty of Agriculture, Kasetsart University (April 25, 1991) and (2) Pakchong research station, Pakchong district, Nakhonratchasima (September 18, 1991). Fresh pods were harvested at 27, 30, 33, 36 and 39 days after flowering (DAF). In Apr.; The product of all cultivars did not meet the export standard; AGS 292 cultivar produced the highest marketable pod yield (2 & 3 seeded pod) of 888 kg/rai when harvested at 39 DAF, followed by no. 205, White Lion, Karitea, Wakakusa and Kegon with 778, 773, 556, 471 and 359 kg/rai when harvested at 33, 39, 39, 27 and 39 DAF, respectively. In Sept.; AGS 292 still produced the highest marketable pod yield with export standard of 1,568 kg/rai when harvested at 36 DAF, whereas the others: Kegon, White Lion, Wakakusa, Karitea, and no. 205 were 1,449 1,341 1,194 912 and 505 kg/rai when harvested at 36, 36, 36, 36 and 39 DAF, respectively.
