Experiment with improved poultry husbandry was begun with a group of farm women with an objective to increase their income and productivity. The experiment attempted artificial incubation in the village environment but suffered from electricity failure which prevented successful operations. Nevertheless, the project withnessed several farmers' innovations and adaptation concerning both incubation and general husbandry. Despite difficulties, the introduced poultry practices were shown to increase farmers' income, income earning opportunities, improve seasonal distribution of income and family nutrition. There have also been shifts in poultry tasks from originally women management to greater male management. The project eventually works with men and women in equal footing.
