The review of former investigations and experiences in the work with installations for briquetting of biomass was presented. Separately, the physical characteristics of the briquetted material has been analyzed. It was found that the biomass briquettes may retain its shape (cylindrical, diameter 25 to 90 mm, and length 50 to 300 mm, or prismatic of the same dimensions) if the press realizes high pressure of 150 to 200 bars and increased temperature of 80 to 90 deg C, in order to stick the chopped material (3 to 10 mm) by means of thermoplastic effect. The optimal moisture content for pressing of chopped materials is 14 to 18. At the end of paper the economic justification of briquette production was given. It was found that the price of briquettes amounts 90 to 110 DEM/t. It was pointed that the briquettes of biomass were very convenient biofuel for the market. Energetic briquettes are ecologically cleaner as a fuel than Yugoslav coal.
