In establishments, the genotypes are presented with one or more trees and with 5-10 plants in stool beds, where every plant was cutted at the height of 1-1.5 m from the ground and at the point of cut every year old shoots are cutted down for cuttings while new ones are let to develop. The variability of breast diameter of 15-16 year old trees from three genofond stands and the variability of tolerance to leaf and cortical diseases of genotypes in two stoolbeds has been presented. Presented genofond was subject of variability and heritability investigation and source of recently developed cultivars in black poplar breeding program of Poplar Research Institute in Novi Sad, Yugoslavia.
