Actuality of the rice growing in Vojvodina [Yugoslavia] - with regard to the particular suitability of soil and water

Rice growing in Vojvodina (south Pannonian Plain), Yugoslavia, was followed by certain interruptions in the past. At the present, rice culture becoming actual. Many natural possibilities for spreading this crop exist: climatic conditions are favourable; they correspond to the varieties of rice with short growing season. Soil potentials, slightly affected by water soluble salts (total amount 0.25 and, 0.05 of soda) and pH value not to be higher than 8.5; texture loamy clay and clay with reduced permeability bring about low water losses from flooded rice fields. Respective water supply with an appropriate quality.
