The possibility of use of seven Yugoslav bleaching clays, five synthetic and two of them of natural origin, for physical refining of sunflower oil was studied in this paper. Evaluation of the adsorbents efficiency was done on the basis of determination of the significant parameters in oil after bleaching step, and was compared with commontly used commertial bleaching clay Tonsil. Although significant differences in the effects achieved were observed, the best total effects over the effect reached with Tonsil, were determined by using natural adsorbent P-2. The other adsorbent which was evaluated as very prospective was synthetic zeolite S-2 that was very good in lowering phosphorus content.
